Every two months, we run a free contest: submit your child's story, and three winning entries get the full Cochain treatment — editing, illustration, and publishing — at no cost, through our Story Seed package.

No Purchase Necessary
No purchase is necessary to enter or win. Entry is free and open to legal residents of the United States (all 50 states), ages 3–14, and their parent/guardian.
Eligibility
Open to all U.S. states. One entry per child per contest cycle (two entries permitted for children referred by a partnered school PTO — see your school's communication for the referral option on the entry form).
How Winners Are Selected
All entries are initially screened using AI-assisted review tools. Final selection of the three winning stories is made manually by Cochain Books staff. Cochain Books reserves sole discretion in judging.
Story Length
Story submissions should be no more than 750 words. Submissions exceeding this length may be trimmed by Cochain Books staff or excluded from consideration.
Use of Submitted Content
By entering, you agree Cochain Books may reference the general theme or premise of your child's story in marketing materials. Cochain Books will never reproduce, publish, or quote the submitted story text itself without separate written permission.
Publishing Format
Winning stories are published through Cochain's Story Seed package, which features one of Cochain's ten signature characters in the lead role. Cochain Books works directly with winning families to adapt their story accordingly. See the character gallery →
Timeline
Entries close July 31, 2026. Any entry received after this date will be automatically considered for the next contest cycle rather than the current one.
Winner Notification
Winning families will be contacted directly using the email provided at entry. All entrants will be notified of the outcome.
